Food Information in ReflexBlue: The Traces of allergens tab
In the Traces of allergens tab of the Food Information detail screen, you manage the traces of allergens for an article. This information is important for use on labels, product packaging, and for the safety of consumers with food allergies.
Legislation regarding the declaration of allergens has been tightened to provide clearer and more honest information about traces of allergens caused by cross-contamination.
Previously, companies often used statements such as “may contain traces of nuts” or “produced in a facility where nuts are also processed.” Such general claims often led to confusion about the actual presence of allergens in the product.
According to the new rules, producers must sample their products multiple times to determine whether traces of allergens are present, and if so, which allergens and in what quantity. This information must be reported on labels and product specifications. Traces may originate from the supplier of raw materials or arise during the company’s own production.
